The opportunity:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic and engaging Finance team on a permanent, full-time basis. The Assistant Accountant is responsible for providing financial accounting and compliance assistance to the group finance team.
About you:
You will enjoy working within a fully functioning Finance team, and report directly to the Senior Financial Accountant. Thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, you will have an elevated level of autonomy and be able to draw on your strong multi-tasking and time-management capabilities to meet tight deadlines.
Key duties and responsibilities include:

Process month end journals, including review of allocated general ledger accounts / business areas and posting of relevant accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.

Maintain and reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts monthly.

Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding month-end processing, ensuring reporting deadlines are met.

Assist with preparation of monthly, annual, and ad hoc reporting in areas of responsibility.

Assist in the financial analysis of actuals vs budget in areas of responsibility.

Assist with preparation of audit workpapers and reconciliations that meet group external audit requirements.

Assist in the preparation of compliance activities including BAS, FBT and ABS surveys.

Identify improvements in the accounting processes and reporting of transactions.

Deliver high level customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Provide support to the Fixed Asset, Property admin and Accounts Payable finance teams as required.

Complete any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Finance Leadership team.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential
-
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent, or studying towards
-
Strong time management & organisational skills
-
Analytical, problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail
-
Intermediate in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, report building and manage formulas, format, and data validation functions)

Experience in reconciliations, journal posting and month-end activities.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a positive and professional attitude

A fast learner of systems and procedures
Desirable
-
1+ years' experience in comparable Assistant Accountant/Accounting related role

Enrolled in CPA or CA post-graduate programs or have completed prerequisite subjects for future enrolment.
