Job Description
The opportunity:
Fitness & Lifestyle Group is looking for an Accountant to join our Group Finance team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality financial accounting and compliance outcomes. In this role, you'll take ownership of key month-end processes - including accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations - while also contributing to both internal and external reporting, in addition to finance improvement initiatives.
This newly created role comes as we strengthen our team in anticipation of a major system transformation to Workday. While this presents an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience through a significant technology transition, the core focus of this role will remain on managing the day-to-day financial operations and delivering accurate, timely outcomes as part of business as usual.

Key duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Prepare and process month-end journals, including review of allocated general ledger accounts and posting of relevant accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Maintain and reconcile assigned Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure data integrity in the general ledger, adhering to relevant finance policies, procedures, and Accounting standards
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial reports for areas of responsibility.
- Support financial analysis of actual results versus budget/forecast for designated business units or cost centres.
- Assist with the financial management of stock for club and gym supplies
- Coordinate with the Payroll team to support payroll accounting processes,
- Assist with the capitalisation of fixed assets from Work in Progress (WIP) accounts to the Fixed Asset Register
- Assist in the external audit process, including preparation of reconciliations and workpapers to meet audit requirements.
- Contribute to compliance reporting, including preparation of BAS, FBT, and ABS surveys in line with statutory requirements.
- Deliver high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders by responding to queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Provide support during the ERP system transition from Microsoft Dynamics to Workday, as required.
What you'll bring:
Essential:
- Accounting degree
- CA/CPA studying or qualified
- Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting, commercial finance, or public practice role
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, report building and managing formulas, format and data validation functions)
- Very strong time management & organisational skills
- Analytical, problem-solving mindset with high attention to detail
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
