The opportunity: 

Fitness & Lifestyle Group (FLG) is seeking a Lead Test Engineer to drive our testing strategy, oversee test execution, and facilitate user acceptance testing, all while championing continuous improvement. This leadership role is focused on ensuring exceptional user experiences through efficient testing practices. We're looking for a leader that is technically strong, up to date with the latest in testing methodologies, and is highly experienced in automation testing. 

In this high-impact role, you will lead testing across our entire digital ecosystem including React Native mobile apps, React web applications, backend systems, a Salesforce implementation, and a billing platform migration.

Key duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 
 

• Lead the development and execution of our Quality Assurance (QA) strategy, ensuring quality is non-negotiable. 
• Drive continuous improvement across testing processes and tools. 
• Mentor and guide engineers and QA contributors, both onshore and offshore in delivering consistent quality. 
• Architect and maintain scalable, test automation frameworks across mobile, web, and backend services. 
• Introduce AI-powered testing capabilities to improve speed, accuracy, and relevance. 
• Embed automated testing into pipelines for safe, rapid releases. 

 
What you'll bring: 

Essential: 

• A genuine passion for our products and a relentless drive to give every user the best possible experience. 
• A few years of experience leading test automation initiatives, with a strong focus on strategy, implementation, and team mentoring 
• Proven leadership in driving a QA strategy and influencing cross-functional teams. 
• Hands-on experience with tools like Jest, Browserstack, React Testing Library, Appium, Mocha, Cucumber and Playwright 
• Strong ability to work across distributed teams. 

Beneficial: 

• Expertise in testing React, React Native, APIs, and integrated systems. 
• Familiarity with Salesforce testing and data validation. 
• Relevant tertiary qualification in an Information Technology or related discipline 
• Experience in a similar role in a retail, leisure or other B2C environment 
• Experience in working in an Agile, cross-functional, hybrid co-located or virtual product team
